Purpose and Objectives:
This is part 1 of a 2-part workshop, sponsored by ASCE’s Energy Division, one of the nine technical groups under the ASCE Center for Technical Advancement. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of modular construction, including its benefits, challenges, and key principles, as well as early design development concepts and front-end engineering design (FEED) for module design. They will explore structural design principles, load considerations, and techniques for ensuring accurate dimensions during fabrication. The workshop will also equip attendees with practical skills to address common design challenges and apply dimension control techniques in modular projects.
Who Should Attend?
- Practicing Structural Engineers
- Operating Company Personnel
- Local Building Officials, Plan Checkers
- Practicing Construction Engineers
- College-level students, teachers, and researchers interested in modularization
Outline (Check here for the full agenda)
- Introduction
- Fundamentals of Modular Design
- Philosophy and Early Design
- Development Concepts
- Front-End Engineering Design (FEED)
- Detailed Engineering: Structural Design Principles
- Interactive Session: Design Challenges and Solutions
- Dimensional Control
- Q&A and Closing Remarks
Note: Frequent classroom question and answer discussions are encouraged at the conclusion of each presentation.
How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs
This online course is worth 0.4 CEUs / 4 PDHs. To receive your certificate of completion, participants must attend the in-person workshop for the entire length.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
