Join us on February 15 for #ParksByYou Day to plant trees, grasses and wetland natives at 9303 Forest Dale St., Houston, Texas 77078. Volunteers will be divided into groups and work with Conservation staff on-site, who will provide guidance on restoring the riparian area along the Halls Bayou Greenway trail system. Halls Bayou Greenway is home to a scenic detention basin, and hundreds of acres of grasslands, forest, and wetlands designed for flood mitigation. With your help, Houston Parks Board is transforming Houston's bayous with hike-and-bike trails connecting surrounding communities to parks and nature. This project is tied into our conservation goal of strengthening the riparian areas along Halls Bayou against erosion and flooding using native plant species, as well as engaging and educating the community. Your work will directly and significantly impact the ecological health and resilience of the communities along Halls Bayou.

Houston Parks Board will provide tools, gloves, and other equipment needed. Please come in weather-appropriate clothing as well as close-toed shoes that you don't mind getting a little muddy. The days activities will include digging, mulching, moving of soil and plant materials, etc.
