Join us as Lori Brownell with Port Houston discusses some of the major current and planned improvements projects for the Houston Ship Channel and how the Port addresses the environmental and water resources challenges as part of implementing these projects.

CHIEF CHANNEL INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICER

 

Lori joined the Port in 2019, leading the Project 11 team focusing on the widening and deepening the 52-mile Houston Ship Channel, while also acting as the key interface with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Prior to her time at Port Houston, Lori spent 20 years with Taylor Engineering's waterfront group, serving as Director overseeing planning, design and construction for waterfront, marine and dredging-focused projects. As Chief Channel Infrastructure Officer, Lori oversees four strategic focused departments: Channel Infrastructure Operations, Marine Regulatory Development, Channel Infrastructure Real Property and Strategic Asset Management.  

 

Lori currently represents PHA on the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) Executive Board of Directors, Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port, & Navigation (ACOPNE) Board of Trustees, and is an American Society of Civil Engineers Fellow. Lori holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a registered professional engineer (in Texas and Florida).
