Join us for a walking tour of Main Street Promenade, the streetscape transformation to Houston's Main Street through the heart of Downtown. This vibrant, seven-block "outdoor living room" has been reimagined as a lush pedestrian sanctuary, cooling the corridor by up to 10 degrees through a 154% increase in the tree canopy and the addition of striking, custom-designed shade arbors. As you stroll past native, bayou-inspired plantings and blue tile-inspired street murals, you’ll see how the More Space initiative has allowed local favorites like Tenfold Coffee and La Diabla Retro Bar to spill onto the street. These businesses are building out expanded outdoor footprints with sleek bistro seating, integrated misting systems, and permanent café zones, turning former traffic lanes into the city's most social and shaded destination just in time for the 2026 World Cup.

Limited to 30 attendees.
Meeting Location:
The tour will begin near the AIA Houston Center for Architecture at the corner of Travis Street & Commerce Street in Downtown Houston. Please arrive by 9:15 AM for check-in. The tour will promptly begin at 9:30 AM.
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Attendees are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, and sun protection.
Parking & Additional Event Information:
Paid parking is available in several nearby Downtown garages and surface lots within walking distance of the meeting location. Attendees are encouraged to allow additional time for Downtown parking and morning traffic. METRORail access is also available along Main Street for those preferring transit access.
